Moving and inspirational。 I knew when I heard it at the inauguration that I must get my hands on a copy。 I am so glad I did, although nothing can compare to Amanda's moving recitation。 I hope this poem will be in the future's history books about our current time -- it deserves to be remembered。 Moving and inspirational。 I knew when I heard it at the inauguration that I must get my hands on a copy。 I am so glad I did, although nothing can compare to Amanda's moving recitation。 I hope this poem will be in the future's history books about our current time -- it deserves to be remembered。 。。。more

A beautiful poem describing the two opposite sides of America, those that divide and those that unify。 The author references light and darkness, hope and fear for this contested country。。。。When day comes, we step out of the shade, aflame and unafraid。。。

I wish I had young Amanda here to read just as she read at the inauguration, very powerful!

I cried the day I watched this beautifully talented young lady recite this powerful, inspirational poem and I cried reading it。 I will treasure this always, and one day, I'll explain to my granddaughters why this poem, at this time, was so incredibly important to the United States of America on January 20, 2021。 I cried the day I watched this beautifully talented young lady recite this powerful, inspirational poem and I cried reading it。 I will treasure this always, and one day, I'll explain to my granddaughters why this poem, at this time, was so incredibly important to the United States of America on January 20, 2021。 。。。more

I didn’t “read” the book, per se, but heard this brilliant and astounding young poetess of purpose recite it aloud at the U。S。 presidential inauguration。 I truly feel that she alone raised the spirits of millions of people, not just U。S。 citizens but folks like myself worldwide。 Many, many teachers are now using her words to inspire both their students and themselves。

I've been following Gorman in social media since last summer and am extremely happy for her well-deserved fame and success and that all three of her books ( Change Sings - a picture book set to release later this year, this book/collection of poems, as well as The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country ) took the top three spots on the Amazon bestseller list!If you're unfamiliar with Gorman's AMAZING poetry, my favourite ones include her class of 2020 commencement poem, Black Da I've been following Gorman in social media since last summer and am extremely happy for her well-deserved fame and success and that all three of her books ( Change Sings - a picture book set to release later this year, this book/collection of poems, as well as The Hill We Climb: An Inaugural Poem for the Country ) took the top three spots on the Amazon bestseller list!If you're unfamiliar with Gorman's AMAZING poetry, my favourite ones include her class of 2020 commencement poem, Black Daughter's Pointillism, and her inaugural poem (and the title of this book), The Hill We Climb。Honestly, I can't wait for this collection of poems to come out and to experience more of Gorman's moving poetry。 I imagine the audiobook version would be beyond superb。 。。。more
